About the Speaker
Dr. CHAU Tsz-yan, Emily
A Hong Kong-based columnist and assistant professor in the Chinese Department of Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include Hong Kong geography, periodicals, and food literature. She is the recipient of the Chinese Literature Creation Award and the Young Literature Award. Her creative works include modern prose, poetry, novels, and cookbooks. She is the author of 'A Food Reading Diary', 'Dining with Characters', 'Small Eatery', and co-editor of 'Imprints: Walking through Hong Kong's Literary Landscape (Vol. 1 & 2)'.
The speaker will introduce cookbooks written by scholars from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, discussing ancient cooking and wellness philosophies, and sharing her creative inspirations drawn from these ancient cookbooks.
• Conducted in Cantonese. Free admission.
• Registration by phone begins 2 weeks in advance. Limited seats are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
• Please arrive 5 minutes before commencement of the talk. Registration will become invalid for latecomers. Seats will then be allocated to those waiting on-site.
